"Desperate Housewives" alum Brenda Strong has recently been cast for a recurring role in the superhero adventure TV series "Supergirl."

In the weekly spoiler room report of Entertainment Weekly, the news outlet recently got the latest details about the premiere episode of the forthcoming season. The publication revealed that the first episode will have a mix of comedy and action.

Fans will also be able to see an unexpected interaction between the titular character Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and former Daily Planet photographer James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks).

Furthermore, the report confirmed that Strong will be joining the cast of the show in season 2. The actress will be introduced in the first episode of "Supergirl."

Strong is expected to appear in a couple of episodes of the show. Creation Entertainment's Sean Koo recently posted a photo with Strong on Instagram. In the caption, he shared that he met the actress while filming the fifth episode of the season.

Sources said the actress was seen filming at Westminister's police station in British Columbia, Canada, which is the film location for National City Police Deparment.

Fans near the area were able to see a scene from the episode. The brief videos showed convicted criminals wearing orange jumpsuits on the set. They appeared to be making an attempt to escape. A few photos revealed that the police would be able to catch the prisoners.

Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) was also filming a scene for the episode that day. Sources said that Strong's character could be Sawyer's boss or partner.

The second season of "Supergirl" will launch on The CW instead of CBS. The season will premiere on Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. EDT. Based on the photos of the actress on set, Strong might be portraying a detective starting this season.
