For a while there, fans of "Supergirl" thought their beloved series is headed to doom after it was left off CBS' renewal list. Nevertheless, it has since found a new home in The CW, and now, it looks like the cast of "Supergirl" season 2 is growing by the minute.

The show is barely in its sophomore year, and already, new faces are expected to drop in and add more oomph to the storyline. The first one to be added to the roster was Tyler Hoechlin of "Teen Wolf" who has been tapped to play no less than the titular character's popular cousin, Superman.

Throughout the first season of the series, Kar Zor-El/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) only communicated with her cousin through text and instant messages, occasional emojis included. However, it was confirmed last month that Hoechlin would be joining the show as the man of steel himself, who will appear in the premiere episode.

After Hoechlin, it was confirmed that "Cougar Town's" Ian Gomez would be joining the show in the recurring role of Snapper Carr, the smart and strong-willed editor-in-chief of CatCo Magazine, where Kara works as a secretary. His arrival would put a face behind the person who runs the publication's butcher room.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Snapper's the type of person who speaks what's on his mind and pushes the publication's reporters to make full use of their potential while striving for excellence in their field.

"The Family's" Floriana Lima was likewise tapped to play the role of Maggie Sawyer, a lesbian detective for the National City Police Department. Maggie's bound to take special interest in solving cases involving aliens.

Speaking to The Hollywood reporter, "Supergirl's" executive producer Greg Berlanti said the idea changing the ethnicity and sexuality of various iconic comic book characters comes with the need to reflect "present day."

"I wanted to contemporize these comics that I loved growing up and have them reflect the society that we live in now," he told THR. "It's still about working in some of those very real qualities so that everyone feels represented."

"Supergirl" season 2 will air Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
