'Supergirl' news: Second crossover with the Flash, series up for renewal?

The scarlet speedster Flash/Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) recently paid a visit to Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) in a successful crossover episode in "Supergirl." Reports suggest that there are already talks of another crossover, only this time Kara will go to "The Flash."

Showrunner Andy Kreisberg recently caught up with Entertainment Weekly's The Spoiler Room to answer questions from fans. One of the questions was if Kara Danvers will be in Earth-1, and if she will make an appearance in "The Flash." According to the publication, it is possible. "Any Kara that exists on Earth 1 would also have to have been an alien," Kreisberg said. "It can't just be Kara Danvers from Poughkeepsie." Kreisberg also teased about an interesting twist on Kara's character. When asked if she could be a potential Supergirl/Powergirl in this Earth as well, the executive producer replied, "Sure, different costume, but sure."

On another note, the recent crossover between the two heroes might have helped "Supergirl" earn a sophomore season. There were previous talks about the show hanging in the balance because CBS has already renewed a huge chunk of its programs. This led fans to worry if they will see more of the superheroine, especially with its good-but-not-that-great ratings. Now, things are looking well as the much-hyped crossover might have sparked the interest of viewers, enough to make an impact on the show's overall ratings.

Director Kevin Smith previously mentioned that "Supergirl" Season 1 will definitely end with a bang. In a report via Cinemablend, Smith described the finale, saying, "Something's happening that will affect Supergirl in such a great way that, you think it's like cute puppies and f------ kittens now? You are going to cry when you see how beautiful this f------- thing is."

"Supergirl" airs Monday nights on CBS. The network has yet to officially announce the season renewal for the show, but it is highly likely to have another season. Meanwhile, "The Flash" airs Tuesday nights on The CW.
