CBS' new DC-based superhero TV series "Supergirl" is about to draw to a close with a few episodes left before the finale, but the network giant has yet to make an official announcement whether the red-caped female cousin of Superman is going to return for a new adventure, or the present season would be all for the Kryptonian superhero. The fear of the fans that the TV series will not be renewed has grown since CBS did not mention "Supergirl" during its announcement of 11 newly recommissioned shows last March 25. However, someone in the cast has said that there is nothing to be nervous just yet as things are still looking "very positive."

In an interview with Digital Spy, David Harewood who portrays the role of J'onn J'onzz or Martian Manhunter revealed that there is nothing set in stone yet as of the moment and anything can still happen, citing that CBS has shown signs of giving a go signal for Season 2 especially when "The Flash" crossover happened.

"I've heard lots of rumblings - there are no guarantees... but CBS has made some very positive noises. All I know is that we've just had one of our biggest audiences of the year so far with the Flash crossover so it's all looking positive.

"The fans have been very vociferous and very vocal, so hopefully it's enough to get us a second season."

The "Supergirl" and "The Flash" crossover episode has turned out to be the show's all-time high since it first debuted on television. According to the Yibada website, the crossover was able to garner an average of 7.2 million viewers and an impressive 1.7 rating average among adult viewers of age 19-49.

Harewood also noted that "Supergirl" fans have always shown their tremendous support to the TV series to the point of campaigning for the show being renewed for Season 2. Even netizens at Twitter are very vocal to CBS and demand to know the news regarding the renewal or cancellation of the show. If there was an indication pointing to a "Supergirl" Season 2, it would be CBS president, Les Moonves' earlier statement that all new series of the network are likely to be renewed.
