Suge Knight News: Collapses After Judge Sets $25-M Bail Over Hit-And-Run Case

Rap mogul and former CEO of Death Row Records Suge Knight fell unconscious in court on Friday after a judge ruled that he would have to pay $25 million in bail if he wanted to be released from police custody in connection with a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of Terry Carter, 55, last month.
Knight, a diabetic who suffers from blood clots, was immediately sent to hospital. That was the fourth time since his arrest that he was taken to hospital. Shortly afterwards, his lawyer Matthew Fletcher informed the court that he had not received any medication and food since the previous day.
After the bail amount was announced, Fletcher stated that it was "it "absurd and clearly excessive." He also noted that Knight was being kept in a solitary cell and was being treated like he was "worse than Charles Manson."
A few minutes before Knight hit his head on the table after he slumped while seated on a chair, Superior Court Judge in Los Angeles Ronald S. Coen stated that Knight "had a great potential to flee and apparently has so in the past." Judge Coen also defended the $25 million bail, saying this was "reasonable" in this case.
Fletcher had previously stated that his client would not be able to pay the bail amount if it was set at $25 million as demanded by the prosecution.
In their statement, the prosecution pointed out that Knight was on bail when he was involved in the hit-and-run incident. The prosecutors also filed an additional motion charging Knight with extortion which victimized up and coming rap artists.
The preliminary hearing in connection with the hit-and-run case that saw Knight ran over two men is set for April 13.
