Street Fighter 5 news update: 'Rage-Quitters' punishments include game points deductions as Capcom clamps down on cheats

"Street Fighter 5" video game developer and publisher Capcom has sent out an ultimatum for players who purposely disconnect in order to keep their game points from falling, also known as "rage-quitters." The company is asking other players to record any player who seems to be doing it and send the footage to them.

Capcom is pretty serious about handing out penalty for players who are caught.

"Players who log into their account and see that their LP and Rank has dropped significantly can consider this a warning," the company stated through the Capcom Unity blog. "We will be continuing to monitor these accounts in the coming weeks and will take further action if needed."

Capcom says it's looking for players with an "80-90% disconnect rate," meaning accounts that "sit far outside the norm as compared to the majority of other players."

The company has also stated that players who get randomly disconnected from the game should not worry since they are only after those who do it on purpose with a high disconnection rate.

The issue has been reported repeatedly and has been happening for quite some time it seems. Capcom is now asking the whole community to help them by sending screenshots of players who are cheating the system as they look to clamp down.

According to Capcom, they have already punished 30 players who were busted and took game points from their account. The penalty was merely a warning to others but a harsh punishment could be given for future offenders.

Capcom has also expressed their gratitude to the people who sent them evidence through screenshots and video clips.
