'Stranger Things' season 2 spoilers: Series creators tease new mystery; Jonathan to still have chance with Nancy?

Netflix's "Stranger Things" became a huge hit after it premiered in July, but the show's fate still hangs in the balance. Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer a.k.a. The Duffer Brothers recently sat down for an interview and they shared details on what fans could expect from the possible season 2.
Speaking with IGN, Matt revealed that season 2 will be "very different," in the sense that the storyline will have a darker and weirder tone. He also hinted more visual effects next season, drawing inspiration from popular 1984 movies including "Karate Kid," "Temple of Doom" and "Gremlins."
In terms of the Jonathan-Nancy-Steve love triangle, Matt says there could still be hope for Jonathan even if Nancy wound up with Steve in the season 1 finale. "Jonathan is a complicated guy. He's not the smoothest when it comes to dealing with girls... If Jonathan ends up getting Nancy that's like a fantasy to me; it doesn't feel very realistic. But maybe we can build to it," he teased.
Similar to how season 1 played out, the second season will also have another self-contained story. After Will's disappearance was resolved, the characters will be involved in a new mystery throughout the season. "There are lingering questions, but the idea with Season 2 is there's a new tension and the goal is can the characters resolve that tension by the end," Ross explained. "So it's going to be its own sort of complete little movie, very much in the way that Season 1 is."
Meanwhile, Infamous Games recently launched a non-authorized, playable tribute to the show. It isn't' a complete game, however, since it only features one scene from the Netflix summer hit. In the game, the player's role is to help Hopper and his deputies Callahan and Powell as they search for clues on Will's disappearance in the woods where he was last seen. The game only ends when the clue is found.
Netflix has yet to renew "Stranger Things" for a second season.
