The fate of Netflix's summer hit "Stranger Things" still hangs in the balance, but its quick rise to popularity means a renewal is likely to happen. While waiting for the streaming giant's decision, creators Ross and Matt Duffer a.k.a. the Duffer Brothers shared their plans for the possible second season and how they will give justice for beloved character Barb's (Shannon Purser) death.

Barb's general disposition and her 1980s look easily made her a likeable character. Unfortunately, her life was cut short after the faceless monster attacked and killed her. Speaking with IGN, the Duffer Brothers confirmed that she will not be seen in any future episode but promised that her story will have a final resolution in the hypothetical season 2.

"I can't see it happening" Matt said, referring to Barb's return. "But Barb will not be forgotten. We'll make sure there's some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn't seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We're just not spending any screen time on it."

He further explained that season 1 took place over "six or seven days," which is why Barb's parents are still oblivious of her disappearance. The story for season 2 will tackle more of the repercussions and complications following the events in season 1.

Meanwhile, Purser also gave her take on Barb's death and the possibility of her coming back in some way. Since "Stranger Things" is her first acting gig, Purser said she had a wonderful experience with the cast & crew and that she is more than willing to return if the creators wanted her to. "I trust the Duffers and their judgement," she told Glamour, "and if that's what they feel needed to happen, then I respect that. But if they ever wanted to bring Barb back, I would be 100 percent OK with it."

Netflix has yet to greenlight season 2 but once renewed, "Stranger Things" will likely return next year.
