Netflix's original series "Stranger Things" ended its freshman run on a high note, leaving fans wanting to see more episodes of the '80s-set and inspired thriller drama.

The eight-part program follows the story of 12-year-old Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) who spent a week in a parallel dimension known as the "Upside Down" before being reunited with his mother Joyce (Winona Ryder) and brother Jonathan (Charlie Heaton). Even if the search for Will's unexpected disappearance has already been resolved, the shocking finale raised more questions for fans.

The streaming giant has not yet renewed "Stranger Things," but series creators/writers/directors The Duffer Brothers (twins Matt and Ross) already have plans on how season 2 will play out. "We leave these dangling threads at the end," Ross Duffer told Variety. "If people respond to this show and we get to continue this story — we had those initial discussions of where we might go with it. If there was going to be a season two, we would reveal more of that 30-page document, but we'd still want to keep it from the point of view of our original characters."

One of the major highlights in season 1 was Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) disappearance after fighting the Upside Down monster. Matt Duffer explained that something indeed happened to her and she did not just vanish into thin air. Hopper is filled with guilt after selling her out, but the extent of his knowledge regarding Eleven's whereabouts will remain a mystery. "We wanted to leave it sort of mysterious exactly what he knows... Have there been sightings in the woods or is he hoping she's out there or has he already made contact with her? We don't answer any of that, but we like the idea of potentially putting her and Hopper together," the series co-creator said.

After being released in its entirety by the network, the series was met with positive reviews from TV critics. It was praised for its unique characterization, atmosphere and homage for the 1980s Hollywood horror genre. Best-selling author and literary icon Stephen King recently declared his love for the new show via Twitter, saying: "Watching STRANGER THINGS is looking watching Steve King's Greatest Hits. I mean that in a good way."

The following day, King posted another tweet about the horror drama which reads: "STRANGER THINGS is pure fun. A+. Don't miss it. Winona Ryder shines."

Netflix has yet to renew "Stranger Things" for another season.
