'Steven Universe' Season 3 release date, spoilers news: New 'Gem' villain to be introduced

The upcoming third season of Cartoon Networks hugely popular cartoon series "Steven Universe" is set to arrive on May 12, and while the fans have only a few days before they can witness the next chapter in the lives of the Gem heroes, the latest trailer for Season 3 suggests that there is a new villain that will threaten Earth once again. Also, the latest villain could also be one of the Gem family.

The hint of the new gem villain for "Steven Universe" Season 3 may not be very clear in the trailer, but according to Breathe Cast, the hand that briefly made an appearance towards the end of the promo trailer could belong from the new bad guy or gal. The report also suggests that the mysterious gem villain could be introduced bit by bit throughout the season.

Meanwhile, the first episode of Season 3 is entitled "Super Watermelon Island" The promo trailer also hints that the first mission of the gem heroes led by Peridot and the series' main protagonist, Steven, will take place in the Super Watermelon Island. As the newly appointed Crystal Gem, Peridot is now in charge of stopping anyone that is threatening to destroy the world, however, she appears to be not ecstatic regarding her new responsibilities.

According to a report from International Business Times UK, Peridot and Steven will face the Clusters and stop them before they reach their final form and they are finally able to drill up to the very center of the Earth. When that happens, the world will face it destruction. Although, Peridot is seen looking for the other gems like Garnet, Pearl and Amethyst and it appears that she is still not used to working alone.

The report also gave hints that the one behind the impending disaster due to the Clusters is none other than the Yellow Diamond. To recall, Yellow Diamond does not seem okay with Peridot being included in the Crystal Gems family.
