'Steven Universe' season 3 news: Rose Quartz's past to be discussed?
The third installment to "Steven Universe" might be weeks away, but viewers are already looking forward to how the story will take shape.
Comic News Insider interviewed Rebecca Sugar via podcast, where she said that fans of the animated program will see an "entirely musical" episode. "We'll usually write premises and outlines [of the songs] so we usually plan for it in an episode — we'll have the broad strokes in the course of the song, they have to learn this, or they start out feeling this way...we'll have the arc of the song," Sugar explained via Moviepilot.
"We have a full musical episode coming up — it has seven songs in eleven minutes!" Sugar excitedly said. The upcoming season will be called "Summer of Steven," and due to the show's success, it was renewed for a fourth and fifth season as well. According to reports, Steven will find out that he has inherited more from Rose Quartz's powers than expected. Previously, Steven found out that he inherited the skill of creating barriers and healing through the use of his saliva. However, fans suspect that this is just one of the many powers he will discover in the near future.
Moreover, rumor has it that the past of Rose Quartz will be discussed in the series. The story will go back thousands of years ago, giving the fans an idea on why Rose Quartz decided to switch sides. It was also noted that Steven is capable of reaching out to Lapiz Lazuli through dreams, which leads viewers to suspect that the same case is possible with Rose Quartz.
"Steven Universe" season 3 is confirmed to come out this June on Cartoon Network. Along with the musical episode, fans should also anticipate the new fusion-busting weapon Malachite, together with the possible return of Yellow Diamond.
