'Steven Universe' news: Series creator Rebecca Sugar spearheads anti-bullying programming for October as National Bullying Prevention month

"Steven Universe" will be taking part in Cartoon Network's seventh annual anti-bullying campaign this October.
The "Stop Bullying: Speak Up" initiative—spanning October, which is National Bullying Prevention Month—will focus on themes of friendship, communication and inclusion as the main tools to stop bullying. Spearheaded by "Steven Universe" creator Rebecca Sugar, the initiative will offer viewers a new hour-long programming slot which airs every Saturday in October.
It will feature new stories from Cartoon Network's well-loved shows including "Steven Universe," "Teen Titans Go!," "The Amazing World of Gumball," "Clarence," and "We Bare Bears" that highlight promoting positive relationships and teamwork. In between, the network will showcase brief spots for audience contributions submitted through the CN Sayin' app that center on actions viewers can take to end the vicious cycle of bullying. It's still unclear, however, if the kid-friendly network will air multiple new episodes from each program or one new batch repeated every Saturday.
Aside from the anti-bullying programming in the network, Sugar has also created a series of engaging videos collectively called "Fearless Self Expression." Through various social media platforms, Sugar intends to reach out more people with "how-to-draw" videos set to launch on Oct. 8. The short clips will teach kids ways in artistically expressing themselves, while also centering on speaking up against bullying.
Every week, Sugar will catch up with fans on different social media platforms to promote active participation. By the end of the series, Sugar will encourage fans to reflect on their creation and share their creations online.
"For 'Stop Bullying,' I'd like to speak up with a four-week strategy for fearless self-expression! These are tips and tricks I use to keep drawing, even when I start to feel afraid," the series creator tells fans.
The fourth season of "Steven Universe" airs every Thursday night at 7 p.m. EST on Cartoon Network.
