'Star Wars the Old Republic' DLC release date, news and updates: Opening minutes of 'Knights of the Eternal Throne' released

It's been five years since Bioware released "Star Wars: The Old Republic" and to commemorate the game's fifth anniversary, the developers are releasing new downloadable content (DLC) called "Knights of the Eternal Throne." A new clip has been released teasing the first few minutes of the game, and though it doesn't really highlight anything about the new locations and gameplay, it does give fans a good overview of story and mission that the DLC will bring.
The clip runs for two minutes and 15 seconds. The main character is seen discussing things with the former leader of the Eternal Empire who is urging the player to take the Eternal Throne for themselves. The DLC looks to be a continuation of the 2015 DLC, "Knights of the Fallen Empire," which introduced the Eternal Empire and the Emperor of the Eternal Throne.
In the lore, the Eternal Empire appeared as a third party in the war, and it was responsible for the defeat of both the Republic and the Sith. The Eternals have since fell, and that's why the main story may see them rise to power again.
The main synopsis of the game is as follows: "Be the Outlander and command a team of hand-picked allies as you face one of the most dangerous families in Star Wars. Mother against daughter. Sister against brother. It's a fight for control of the throne. You decide who will live, who will die and who will rule the galaxy. Fight to influence the galaxy for the light or dark side of the Force."
Though the new trailer delves into the story of the expansion, fans are still more appreciative of the cinematic trailer for the game.
"Star Wars" fever will be kicking the holidays as "Knights of the Eternal Throne" launches on Friday, Dec. 2.
