'Star Wars Rebels' season 3 update: 'Star Wars' Celebration Event to show first two episodes on July 16, complete season 2 to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Aug. 30

Popular animated series "Star Wars Rebels" wrapped up its sophomore run back in March, and since then fans have been patiently waiting for updates about the season 3 premiere.
"Star Wars" Celebration Europe 2016 is only a month away, and the much-awaited event will give fans more than just a preview for the animated series' third season. According to the "Star Wars" official website, the first two episodes of season 3 will be shown to the public this coming July 16, Saturday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. London time.
Season 2 left off with Ahsoka Tano's fate unknown after her huge battle with Darth Vader. What happens to Vader's former apprentice? Comic Book notes that fans might not find the answers about Ahsoka right away, and it will unlikely be tackled in the first two episodes. Instead, the premiere will possibly pick up on Kanan's fate after being rendered blind, as well as how Ezra will influence the crew's mission. With his ability to think similar to a Sith, it remains to be seen how the crew will be affected. Aside from the preview for fans, director Dave Filoni will be present in the event to discuss details about the show and "share highly-guarded sneak peeks," according to the official announcement. He will also be joined by yet-to-be-named special guests who will speak about the new season.
While waiting for the animated series to officially premiere, fans can get their hands on the second season of Disney XD's popular show. "Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Two" will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray this coming August 30 and along with the 22 episodes, new and exclusive content are also included.
A release date for "Star Wars Rebels" season 3 is yet to be announced, but the show is expected to return later this year on Disney XD.
