"Star Wars Rebels" will soon hit the screens for its much-awaited third season, and new details about the hit animated series have recently surfaced.

Executive producer Simon Kinberg recently caught up with Movie Fone where he talked about the possibility of the show being tied into a film. With "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" scheduled to hit the theaters this year, Kinberg discussed the probability of the "Rebels" storyline being linked with upcoming films which they plan to release sometime in the near future.

"What's lovely is, obviously, we've brought in characters from Clone Wars in the second season, and we keep sort of bringing characters from the original movies and sort of deepening the relationships between our core characters, the Ghost crew," he explained. "So it's trying to balance the two different things, like the original cast from the first season with Clone Wars, with characters from the original movies, and maybe even feeding into future movies."

More details are expected to be announced in the special two-episode premiere and panel at the Star Wars Celebration. The event will be held this coming July 15-17 in London, and series creator David Filoni will host the panel. According to Fansided, two of the main characters' voice actors will be joining Filoni for the Q & A: Tiya Sircar, the voice of original cast memberSabine Wren, and Sam Witwer, who voices the infamous Darth Maul.

Filoni previously hinted in an interview with io9 that Sabine will play a more important role this season along with Ezra. Her attendance makes perfect sense because she might give important details on how the whole storyline about the rest of the crew will play out. Sam Witwer's presence is also a good sign that great things can be expected by the fans on the villain's side.

"Star Wars Rebels" season 3 is set to premiere this year on Disney XD, but a definitive release date is yet to be confirmed.
