'Star Wars Rebels' season 3 midseason finale spoilers, news: Ezra reunites with Maul
"Star Wars Rebels" is gearing up for season 3's midseason finale that will reunite Ezra and Darth Maul for the first time after their very mysterious interaction that joined the Jedi and Sith Holocrons.

It is quite difficult to fathom that the animated series have gone on to tell other stories without visiting the highly talked-about sequence way back in "The Holocrons of Fate." The installment was full of tie-ups that had Ezra getting a premonition about the twin suns, which was a pivotal scene in "Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope," with a young Luke (Mark Hamil) in Tatooine. Maul, on the other hand, found someone he was looking for, presumably for quite a long time. And while it was never confirmed who the person former Darth Sidious's apprentice was talking about, theories are running high that he is referring to Obi Wan Kenobi.
Now, with the two coming together again and this week's episode being the midseason finale, a spectacle that will be pivotal moving forward can be expected. The official synopsis of the outing titled "Visions and Voices" do not give away much, only that Kanan's padawan is searching for some answers regarding his visions that do not make sense, at least until now. And given that these occurrences are said to be because of what he saw when he took part in the ritual with Maul, he searches for him in hopes that he can finally sever the link between them.
Jedi Council's bold insinuation that the installment is probably one of the best episodes in "Rebels" history weighs so much in terms of what stories the second half of the series have in store. It can be remembered that the prequel anime drew flak lately for piling up standalone narratives when they can tackle Grand Admiral Thrawn or maybe even Maul. But it sounds like the fans' patience will pay off as the forthcoming offering provides an overall tie-up to the whole lore.
Speaking of tying up the whole "Star Wars" franchise, a cameo from the Ghost is said to be coming to this month's "Rogue One: A Star Wars" story. In a teaser clip released for the Gareth Edwards film, a VCX-100 light freighter that happens to be the model of the Ghost Ship was spotted by Making Star Wars. This poses the possibility that Jyn's (Felicity Jones) band of rebels will have an encounter with Hera's.
It is important to note that the two prequel properties are very close in terms of timelines although it is not necessarily said whether they are subsequent or concurrent. Needless to say, tiny details like this surely makes the space saga more connected.
"Star Wars Rebels" season 3 airs every Saturday, 8:30 p.m. ET on Disney XD while "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be hitting cinemas this Dec. 16.
