'Star Wars Episode VIII' casting news: Kelly Marie Tran to be the film's lead?

Lucasfilm has been keeping the lid on the details concerning the upcoming "Star Wars Episode VIII," but actor John Boyega revealed that an unknown actress in the name of Kelly Marie Tran will be the film's next "lead."
John Boyega was present in the recent U.K. Gala Screening of Secrets Of Star Wars: The Force Awakens – the making of documentary that will accompany the film on home video. Boyega was there to introduce and while he was there, he shared how "great" the script and Rian Johnson are. Furthermore, he also gave an interesting detail on the most-awaited Episode VIII. According to Whatculture, when talking about things that made him excited for the film, Boyega mentioned of actress Kelly Marie Tran being the "lead" in the next movie installment. Joining her are Benicio del Toro who was rumored to be a villain along with Laura Dern whose role is still undisclosed.
Back in January, it was confirmed that Tran will be a part of the film. She is mostly seen in College Humor, and her role remains to be a "closely guarded secret." For the uninitiated, this is not the first time Lucasfilm entrusted an unknown to be the film's lead. In "The Force Awakens," Daisy Ridley proved herself as the key role. Rumor has it that the script is currently undergoing readjustments to shed better light on the new characters, resulting in a reduction in some new female parts.
Adam Driver recently sat down in an interview with IGN, and he gave a slight teaser for Episode VIII, saying, "They're still at war. It's still Star Wars...They're not at peace."
Action-adventure epic film "Star Wars: Episode VIII" began production in February and is scheduled to premiere on Dec. 15, 2017. It is written by Rian Johnson and George Lucas, with Johnson also as the director of the movie.
