'Star Wars: Episode 8' spoilers: Adam Driver talks about narrative continuation and general theme of humanity for the sequel

With the release of "Star Wars: Episode VIII" just less than a year away, the ball has already started rolling in terms of a closer look at what director Rian Johnson will bring to the table in the famed lore. Surely J.J. Abrams may have set the groundwork for the contemporary trilogy with "Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens," but it is now at the hands of the "Looper" helmer to cultivate the budding story.

So far, details on the movie are relatively scarce but if there is one actor who is not shying away from any questions regarding the future of his character or the rest of the galaxy far far away, it is Adam Driver who plays the budding face of the dark side, Kylo Ren.

Interestingly, Driver is not shying away from the highly clamored future of the current "Star Wars" saga after his previous comments about the upcoming one being put side by side with "Star Wars: Episode IV – The Empire Strikes Back" drew so much attention. This time, he gamely talked about what he is most excited for fans to see in the next episode of the new trilogy during an interview with Larry King while doing the rounds for his latest gig in Martin Scorsese's "Silence."

"I think, maybe this is such a general answer but you know, humanity. Even though it's very much a blockbuster movie, there was no taking that for granted and that we were forced to be general," the 33-year-old stated. "There was a lot of plot points that we knew were operating in the first one that we get to explain more in the second one to make both of them make sense. But they do kind of feel socially active to me, and George Lucas originally — a lot of Star Wars was in response to Vietnam and a lot of what I remember talking about with JJ and Rian was this idea of terrorism, and two sides being morally justified to behave however they wanted to get whatever they thought was absolutely correct," he added.

Driver's answer is intriguing to say the least given that his character has — in some roundabout way — been trying hard to shut off his humanity to fully tap into the dark side. But what remains to be seen is how and why is he so drawn to follow Darth Vader's footsteps when Vader himself eventually came back to the light and admitted to his misdeeds by the end of "Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi."

In a bigger scope of things, the last part of his statement seems to hint that Johnson is taking on a more balanced approach in terms of perspective between the Resistance and the First Order instead of heavily showing the Alliance. That way, fans can have some sense of knowledge as to what both parties' motivations are.

The yet-to-be-titled "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is scheduled to blast through cinemas on Dec. 15.
