'Star Trek' TV series release date, teaser poster unveiled

Along with an all-new "Star Trek'" TV series to hit the screens again next year, a teaser poster recently surfaced.
The poster was recently leaked by TrekCore via Twitter, which reportedly came from CBS. The TV network has yet to confirm the news, but according to Fansided, a simple teaser alone could give some major details about the upcoming show. As seen in the photo, the logo is an old-school version which is similar to the style used in the original series as well as the reboot movies. With that in mind, the series might be set parallel to the reboot universe or between that time and "Star Trek: The Next Generation." The poster is a fusion between the retro and the modern, so fans can expect it to have much commonalities with "Star Trek: The Original Series" or the new reboots.
Another teaser was spotted this week, which was released at the MIPTV International Television Trade Show during Cannes Film Festival in France as reported by TrekNews.
The still untitled "Star Trek" TV series is scheduled for release next year, with a "special preview broadcast" slated for January 2017. Along with the pilot episode, all subsequent first-run episodes will be made available in the US via CBS All Access. The series will be released globally by CBS Studios International in different platforms.
Confirmed executive producers for the show include Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller and Rod Roddenberry. Nicholas Meyer, known for directing "The Wrath of Khan" and "The Undiscovered Country" and co-writing "The Voyage Home" will be the show's writer and consulting producer as well.
With the cult-classic TV series still in the works, avid fans of the franchise are given an early present as the "Star Trek Beyond" film will premiere this coming July 22. The trailer can be watched here.
