'Star Trek: Discovery' release date news 2016: new details on possible plot revealed

Bryan Fuller may only be barely involved in "Star Trek: Discovery," but he continues to talk about what the CBS series will be all about.
In an interview with Radio Times, Fuller described the new show in three words: "Understand each other." While on the surface, there is not much to take away, Inverse believes that he revealed enough.
The site believes that "Star Trek: Discovery" will focus on seeing the warring clans, the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets, finding middle ground for a better tomorrow.
After all, Fuller said that "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country," which chronicled both groups learning to understand each other, as the standard for "Star Trek: Discovery."
This is also why it was the film's writer and director Nicholas Meyer who was brought on board the CBS project. With all that said, it looks like the Klingon and the Federation will not be up to warfare in the upcoming show.
In other news, Fuller said that he is not as involved in "Star Trek: Discovery" as many would have hoped. He recently told Newsweek that he is focused on his current project, "American Gods," for Starz.
He said that he only provided the material needed to put together "Star Trek: Discovery" and nothing more. Talking more about this with Radio Times, he said, "I submitted stories for the entire season." He went on to say, "So, I wrote the first two episodes and I wrote the storyline for the entire season, and that essentially completes my responsibilities to the show."
He also had no information to offer on the tone of "Star Trek: Discovery" as he will not be part of the production, post-production and basically anything done on the show outside of what he provided.
"I know where we were going before I left, but I don't where they were going to take it after I've left," he went on to say.
"Star Trek: Discovery" premieres January 2017 on CBS.
