'Splatoon' News, Release Date: New Weapons, Modes, Maps Coming after May 29 Launching

The recently held Nintendo Direct event revealed a lot of information about upcoming games from the company including the ink-based shooting game "Splatoon."
In addition to the beta for the game, which is nicknamed "Splatoon Global Testfire," Nintendo announced that new weapons, modes and even maps would be coming to the game after its launching on May 29.
As for the amiibos, when this is used it will bring 20 new "challenge" levels to the game, along with outfits. Finally when the 20 challenges linked to an Amiibo are completed, players will gain access to three Squiddy games.
Those interested in joining the game's beta testing this week were earlier advised to visit the Wii U eShop and download the game. The game's beta format was available for download on May 8 and 9 and date. Future dates may be set. It ran between 8 to 9 p.m. PT on May 8 and between 4- 5 a.m. PT on May 9 and also from noon to 1 p.m. PT on the same day. Beta game participants got to experience four-on-four battles against other players. They were also entitled to get a 10 percent discount on the game when it is launched officially.
Coming to the weapons, the game features a number of classes including Roller, Shooter and Charger. They are designed to be combined with secondary and special weapons. The players are also given access to customization options. A new weapon dubbed the Ink Brush can be used when running to leave a colored trail behind the player.
The multiplayer modes in the upcoming game are called Tower Control and Rainmaker. In "Tower Control," a movable tower has to be taken over and then driven to a goal through a group of enemies who will try to shoot the Inkling on it. There were no details about the Rainmaker mode, but it appears that its name is connected to the activity featured on it.
