'Sleepy Hollow' season 4 spoilers, plot news: Show likely to continue despite main character's departure
The season 3 finale of hit supernatural drama "Sleepy Hollow" left all the viewers shocked with a major plot twist and cliffhanger, but most fans were actually disappointed. Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie), one of the original Witnesses, sacrificed herself and paid the ultimate price in order to put a stop to the Hidden One's (Peter Mensah) evil plan of destroying Earth. Now, Crane (Tom Mison) is left to continue working on the future Witnesses.

The network, along with the executive producers issued a press statement following the main character's departure which reads:
"The finale featuring the tragic death of Abbie Mills was a very dramatic ending and a bold move for the show, but Sleepy Hollow has always been known for its shocking finales. We feel we provided a wonderfully poignant conclusion for Abbie and showed some of the best moments between the Witnesses that we've seen on-screen. We thank Nicole Beharie for bringing Abbie and Sleepy Hollow to life. We are currently discussing season 4, and should the series be picked up for another season, we have some exciting scenarios and new avenues we want to explore."
Beharie played a big part in the show, and many attributed the series' success to the good chemistry between her and lead actor Mison. However, Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the actress had been wanting to exit the show for a long time, stating that she was "unhappy" being in the show. The sources even pointed out that the character was supposed to be killed off right in time for the mid-season finale.
Fox has yet to confirm if "Sleepy Hollow" will have a full season 4 order, but it is surely on the table. Based on the previous seasons, it is highly likely to return later this year. The first two seasons premiered September while the third season started airing October, so it's safe to assume that once Fox green-lights the show, it will premiere around those months.
