'Sleepy Hollow' season 4 spoilers, plot news: New trailer confirms return of familiar face; Tom Mison talks Ichabod's mindset after Abbie's death
Ichabod Crane's (Tom Mison) son will be making a huge comeback in the upcoming premiere of Fox's hit supernatural drama "Sleepy Hollow" season 4.
During the show's New York Comic Con (NYCC) panel session last Sunday, a new trailer for the fourth season confirmed that John Noble will be reprising his role in the acclaimed series. In the final moments of the sneak peak, Ichabod appears to be shackled and put on trial for murder during what appears to be an 18th-century British court. "Hello father," Henry says in the final moments of the clip. Back in season 1, Noble made his first appearance as the famed the Sin Eater Henry Parrish. It was later revealed that he is Ichabod's son with his witch wife Katrina, and also the Horseman of War.
Speaking with TV Line, Mison hinted that season 4 will have a lot of common threads to the previous seasons. Abbie Mills' (Nicole Beharie) death may have caused him a lot of pain, but the actor assured fans that Ichabod's loss won't change him as a character.
"There are a lot of similarities. You don't suddenly see him wallowing and pining and tearing his hair out and howling 'Abbie!' at the moon. Because that's not really his manner," he said. "Lyndie [Greenwood] and I were talking earlier about [how] it makes Ichabod and Jenny are far more driven now, because... [it's] for Abbie, rather than despite Abbie's death."
During the NYCC panel, it was also announced that newcomers for the next season will include Jerry MacKinnon as Jake and "Days of Our Lives" actress Rachel Melvin as Alex. They will both be Ichabod's new colleagues. Although not much is known about their backstories, they work in the secret archives previewed back in the season 3 finale.
The fourth season of "Sleepy Hollow" premieres midseason 2017 on Fox.
