The fourth season of "Sherlock" is still a few months from its much-awaited premiere, but BBC One gave fans an early treat when the network revealed the titles of the first two episodes.

"We can confirm that the titles of #Sherlock Series Four, episodes one and two are 'The Six Thatchers' and 'The Lying Detective,'" BBC One's official Twitter account posted last Sunday, Sept. 25.

According to reports, the first episode titled "The Six Thatchers" will likely be based on the Arthur Conan Doyle story "The Adventure of the Six Napoleons." It is a Lestrade-heavy case which involves plaster busts of the well-known French military leader being smashed in an effort to find a hidden pearl."Tank Girl" director Rachel Talalay will helm the episode, making her "Sherlock" debut after a directorial stint in another popular UK series "Doctor Who."

The episode tallies up with the "Thatcher" hint announced at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), which led to many fan theories including former UK prime ministers, rural roofers and brands of bottled cider.

Titled "The Lying Detective," the second episode will possibly be based on Doyle's "The Adventure of the Dying Detective." In the story penned by Doyle, Holmes was deathly ill and Watson tried to figure out what was ailing the detective. Toby Jones' villainous character Culverton Smith is set to appear in the said episode. Nick Hurran, who directed season the third season's episode "His Last Vow," will return to helm the episode. Back at SDCC, the episode was teased with the name "Smith," which clearly points to the British veteran actor's role.

Meanwhile, the yet-to-be announced third episode is directed by Benjamin Caron, whose previous works include "Skins," "Wallander," and the cinematic version of Kenneth Branagh's take on "The Winter's Tale."

Contrary to rumors that the series is nearing its end, Collider reports that lead star Benedict Cumberbatch has already confirmed that he has signed on for a fifth season of the hit mystery program.

"Sherlock" season 4 is set to premiere in the UK on Jan. 1, 2017.
