'Sherlock' season 4 release date, spoilers news: Will Sherlock fake his own death again?

BBC Network's hit television series "Sherlock" recently finished filming for the fourth season of the show. After years of waiting for the cunning detective to return to the small screen, fans can finally be at ease knowing that the series is bound for release next year.
For those who missed the spoilers announced at this year's San Diego Comic-Convention (SDCC), the cast of "Sherlock" revealed that season 4 will be the darkest season yet. The cast described it as "myopically dark".
To note, it is in the next season that Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) will face the vilest villain the show has ever seen. Although Jim Moriarty (Andrew Scott) will appear briefly, the "most evil villain" that the cast was referring to will not be him. The role of the new baddie will be played by the voice actor of Dobby from the "Harry Potter" franchise, Toby Jones.
Though this information was revealed last July, recent speculations suggested that the titular character will meet his end next season. And this time, it will not be a part of an elaborate scheme.
Sources reported that John Watson (Martin Freeman) will attempt to save his colleague and best friend, but his efforts will be in vain.
Rumors of Sherlock's death started when writer and actor Mark Gatiss tweeted an image of an envelope which had Sherlock's address on it and was pinned down by a knife. The caption read, "The Game is over...for now. #Sherlock."
Could this be another supposed Sherlock death? Or was that to announce that filming for season 4 was over?
At last month's SDCC, the cast shared three important keywords which season 4 will revolve around. The words are Thatcher, Smith, and Sherrinford. It was speculated that this could have something to do with Irene Adler. An old case called "The Six Thatchers," which appeared in season 2, might be a link to Adler.
The showrunners did not respond to the recent speculations and they most likely will not do so. Fans do not have to worry about the fourth season of BBC's "Sherlock" because it is expected to air in early 2017.
