'Sherlock' Season 4 news, updates: Series creator shares photo of Benedict Cumberbatch on-set; Parenthood to cause a problem for Watson?

It has been rumored for quite a long time whether the fourth season of BBC's hit series "Sherlock" will premiere any time soon with Sherlock Holmes himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, being very busy in his professional acting career. Aside from the highly popular Arthur Conan Doyle modern adaptation, Cumberbatch will also be in the much-anticipated Marvel feature film "Doctor Strange" with him in the titular role. However, it was confirmed recently that the production for Season 4, or Series 4, already commenced. To further excite the fans of the popular British TV program, "Sherlock" co-creator Mark Gatiss posted a photo on Twitter showing Cumberbatch up on the set.
Gatiss, who also plays the role of Sherlock's older brother Mycroft, took on Twitter to update the public regarding the developments of the series' much-awaited return to television in January next year. The Twitter photo with Cumberbatch shows the actor sporting the familiar "Sherlock" hairdo and thick coat, telling that the exceptional and charismatic detective will be seen once again with the same but never-old tricks.
Collider provided a brief synopsis for "Sherlock" Season 4 that reveals a few interesting key points that the viewers must take note.
"Season 4 begins with the mercurial Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch), back once more on British soil as Doctor Watson (Martin Freeman) and his wife Mary (Amanda Abbington) prepare for their biggest challenge yet: becoming parents."
In the same report by Collider, Lestrade (played by Rupert Graves) will be seen developing a romance with Molly (played by Louise Brealey) although it is not clear whether this new blooming affair will be successful.
One of the loudest speculations about "Sherlock" Season 4 is the return of the villainous Jim Moriarty (played by Andrew Scott). A statement from the showrunners Gatiss and Steven Moffat further intensified Moriarty's comeback rumors.
"Sherlock series four - here we go again... Ghosts of the past are rising in their lives of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson bringing adventure, romance and terror in their wake," Gatiss and Moffat teased as quoted by Den of Geek.
The duo also dropped a faint hint that Season 4 may the last chapter of the show as they have described the story of the upcoming season as "a story about to reach its climax." Although with the success achieved by the previous season and even the "Sherlock" Christmas special "The Abominable Bride," it will not be surprising if their team decided to go on with Series 5 or even Series 6.
