'Shameless' season 7 release date, spoilers news: 4 new characters to be introduced, story to focus on Gallaghers starting new lives

Showtime's long-running family drama "Shameless" premieres its seventh season later this year, along with four new characters to enter the Gallaghers' lives.
"National Treasure: Book of Secrets" star Alicia Coppola will join the stellar cast lineup along with Arden Myrin from "Fresh Off the Boat," Pasha Lychnikoff from "Deadwood" and newcomer Ruby Modine. All four actors will play recurring roles.
According to Deadline, Coppola portrays Sue, a "blue collar, no-nonsense woman" working with Ian as a supervisor for an EMT group. Myrin's character is New Monica/Delores, a "homeless woman" who will have a brief relationship with Frank. Lychnikoff will portray Svetlana's (Isidora Goreshter) father named Yvan. Modine's character is named Sierra, a new waitress at Patsy Pies under Fiona's management.
The plot will pick up one month after the events in last year's season finale. After causing a huge scene in her daughter's wedding, patriarch Frank (William H. Macy) declares war on his own family. His daughter Fiona (Emmy Rossum) has to deal with struggles of her own after realizing that her fiancée betrayed her. She starts her new life as the manager of Patsy's, focusing on her goals instead of worrying about her past.
Lip (Jeremy Allen White) finally gets out of rehab with a new perspective in life while Ian (Cameron Monaghan) tries to support himself as an EMT. Still struggling to figure out how to be a good mother, Debbie (Emma Kennedy) tries to raise Franny the best way she can while Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) must start making huge decisions on his own.
According to executive producer Nancy Pimental, the upcoming season will touch on the members of the Gallagher family as they try to recover from their past struggles. "It's a huge theme for us and it's a big statement in society — that you can be offered so much and have so much potential but your familial relationships influence you more than anything," she explained. "The Gallaghers are not the kind of family that's getting any help or therapy so how much can they get out of their own way and their family legacy way?"
Tune in to the season 7 premiere of "Shameless" which airs on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. EST on Showtime.
