Seth MacFarlane Rips 'Duck Dynasty' While Accepting Critic's Choice Award
Seth MacFarlane, the creator behind the adult animated comedy show "Family Guy," recently bashed the reality show "Duck Dynasty" while accepting an award at this past weekend's Critic's Choice Awards.
MacFarlane made his comments while accepting the Louis XIII Genius Award at Sunday night's event, held in Los Angeles, California and aired by the A&E network.
The comedy writer received the award for his work on his comedy show "Family Guy," which has been airing on Fox for several years.
"The word 'genius' gets thrown around a lot, which is good because otherwise I probably wouldn't be getting this," MacFarlane said during his speech, adding that "being called a genius in Hollywood is kind of like being called thin at Disneyland."
"Let's also not forget, I'm being called a genius on the network that airs Duck Dynasty," he continued, referencing the A&E network, which was broadcasting the awards' ceremony. "This is a show whose cast members believe hurricanes are caused by gay marriage. I wish I were joking."
"I want to thank the people at Fox who years ago took a chance on a quirky little animated show about a bumbling dad and his family — which I saw and then created Family Guy," MacFarlane continued, adding "In all seriousness, all I can say is that I'm very grateful, and if my work has made the world even just a tiny bit better [...] I would be incredibly surprised."
