The new season of Netflix's science fiction drama "Sense8" will look somewhat different when it debuts next year.

The much-anticipated second season will feature a couple of new faces, one of which is "Demolition" actor Ben Cole, who has joined the Netflix series as a new sensate. According to Deadline, Cole joins the Wachowski siblings' drama as a character named Todd, a sensate who "longs to be 'normal,' rejecting the gifts he's born with."

Cole, who played a supporting role in 2015's Jean-Marc Vallée-helmed "Demolition," has also appeared in "Unforgettable" (2011) and "Amira & Sam" (2014).

Apart from Cole, the series will have at least one other new cast member. As Deadline reported in April, Capheus, the character played by British actor Aml Ameen, was unexpectedly recast amid rumors of Ameen's on-set dispute with Lana Wachowski. Lana co-created, co-executive produces, co-writes, and co-directs "Sense8" with her twin sister, Lily Wachowski.

According to the outlet, the actor's "abrupt" exit was driven by a "conflict" with Wachowski. The friction between the actor and the director apparently came to a head during a season 2 table read in Berlin and got worse as the cast began filming in India. The tension eventually led to Ameen's departure a couple of episodes in and to the role of Capheus being recast.

While Deadline reports that creative differences may have been one of the reasons behind the conflict between Ameen and Wachowski, other outlets insinuate that the tension may have had something to do with transphobia. Both Lana and Lily Wachowski are transgender women.

Following Ameen's exit, American actor Toby Onwumere was cast as Capheus for the new season of "Sense8." Capheus is one of the show's main characters.

Meanwhile, photos shared by the Wachowskis on the show's Tumblr page show the production team working and having fun in Mumbai, where "Sense8" is currently filming. One of the most recent photos shared shows Kala (Tina Desai) and Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) in an intimate moment, with Kala wrapped in Wolfgang's arms.

The second season of "Sense8" is expected to debut on Netflix sometime in 2017. A Christmas special will air around Christmas this year.
