'Sense8' season 2 news, updates and spoilers: Wolfgang-Kala-Rajan love triangle continues, series creator explains show's social relevance, premiere date to fall on 2017?

"Sense8" remains as one of Netflix's most awaited shows this year, and fans hope to see more new episodes from the hit series very soon. Filming remains in full swing, but is the series nearing its premiere?

Writer Bryce Olis previously mentioned in a Reddit forum that they are aiming for a June 2016 premiere, but he also clarified that a release sometime later in the year would be more realistic. "I really hope Netflix can release Sense8 Season 2 in June, but simple math suggests we really shouldn't 'expect' to see Season 2 until much later in the summer or fall of 2016," he explained.

Meanwhile, Tina Desai recently caught up with Buzzfeed where she dished some juicy spoilers about the new chapter. The actress revealed that the love triangle involving Wolfgang, Kala, and Rajan will be further explored in the story. She also hinted that apart from the intimate scenes, fans will see her character Kala in a different light, using her intelligence to help the sensates locate Whisper. "At the end of the season, we learned her contribution to the group is her scientific knowledge, and I was very excited about that — specifically because I get to say a whole lot of words I don't understand and jam needles into people," Desai explained. "Going forward, she'll only be able to contribute more, because in this season, there's more of Whisper hunting us while we're simultaneously trying to hunt him."

Talking to Gold Derby, creator J. Michael Straczynski explained the show's social relevance and why each of the character's story needs to be told. "At a time when politics and culture seem to be dividing us ... a show talking about the fact that we are better together than we are apart, that we are strengthened and not diminished by a multitude of voices, might be a good message to pass along ... Hopefully with time, as we become more and more one world, the empathy will extend beyond national borders."

"Sense8" season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in 2017, with a Christmas special to be released this year.
