Seahawks QB Russell Wilson Plays Game With Flu on Birthday

Quarterback and evangelical athlete Russell Wilson has spoken about recently winning a game on his birthday despite having the flu.

Wilson and his team the Seattle Seahawks beat the Pittsburg Steelers this past Sunday in a 39-30 victory.

The Christian athlete said in a post-game press conference that he reportedly woke up with the flu at 5 a.m. the day of the game, but still managed to play with the help and support of his teammates.

"I've been up since pretty early this morning," Wilson said during the post-game press conference. "[…] I was good last night, then this morning I woke up at 5:45 and it didn't look too good after that."

"I'm feeling good. To get a huge win against a very, very good football team. I thought we were battle tested, we continue to stay the course, we found a way. If you're asking how I'm feeling, it's not too good, but you always feel a little better when you win, especially on your birthday," Wilson added.

Sehawawks Coach Pete Carroll also praised Wilson's playing ability following last Sunday's game, saying in a statement that "Russell played like crazy, he had a fantastic game today."

"His receivers were all over it and did magnificent stuff catching the ball, making plays, making first downs," Carroll added.

Wilson also took to social media on his birthday to share a Bible verse, writing: "#BVY He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30."
