'Scream' season 3 update, plot spoilers: Series renewed with 6 episodes only

MTV's slasher-horror television series "Scream" is getting another shot to live after the network announced a season 3 renewal. But unlike its previous seasons, "Scream" season 3 will just be a short one.
According to reports, the series developed by Jill Blotevogel will only have a total of six episodes, which means it's going to be a short but intense run. The series was on the brink of getting cancelled after the 12-episode season 2 but it seems like MTV managed to save it for one more season perhaps just to close the storyline of the last episode which aired on Oct. 18.
Spoilers suggested that the upcoming third installment is said to pick up after the events from the two-hour Halloween special. Fans may recall that the teens of the series flew to a mansion on Shallow Grove Island for a weekend getaway. But instead of getting some R&R, Stavo (Santiago Segura), Noah (John Karna), Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), Brooke (Carlson Young) and Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) only encountered bloody killings.
The Halloween special episode concluded with Alex (Alexander Calvert), the local from the convenience store, shown as the killer and Emma was able to kill him bravely. It was a tough time for her but after having gone through so much already with Kieran (Amadeus Serafini), Emma already knows how to handle murderers.
So Emma, Noah, Stavo, Brooke, Audrey and her new girlfriend Gina (Zena Grey) survived the night of terror and were able to go back to Lakewood safe and sound. But clearly the story doesn't end there and it seems like more of that will be covered in season 3.
There is no official word yet on the storyline of the upcoming third season but rumor has it that the gang will try to move on with their lives. Emma will be deciding whether she will enter college in Lakewood University while Brooke will be moving to New York. She previously invited Stavo to go with her but it is yet to be known if he will agree.
A new psycho killer is also expected to emerge. Who could it be this time? Fans will have to watch out for updates. "Scream" season 3 is scheduled to premiere in 2017.
