The teaser did not give away too much about the overall storyline, but it surely sparked the interest of the franchise's fans. A short description with the trailer reads: "What starts as a YouTube video going viral, soon leads to problems for the teenagers of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town's troubled past. So thirsty for blood, we're coming back sooner than expected. Scream Season 2 now premieres Monday, May 30 on MTV. Are you ready for the games to begin again?"

According to Comingsoon.net, the plot picks up on Emma's return after being away for several months. She went to a retreat after the horrors of last season, and people are doubtful if she has really gotten over the trauma she went through. On the other hand, Audrey tries to conceal her link to the Killer, as someone who knows the truth tries to reveal her secret. Speaking of secrets, Jake and Brooke decides to keep their budding romance from Mayor Maddox. The season one murders slowly making sense for Noah, and he is slowly getting to the truth. Season 2 will put spotlight on Lakewood's murderous past, as the psychotic Killer tries to bring down the town's heroes through a "storm of betrayal and bloodshed."

Jill Blotevogal and Jamie Paglia decided to step down as the show's executive producers. The two were replaced by collaborators Michael Gans and Richard Register. However, Blotevogal stayed on the show as a creative consultant.

"Scream" season 2 airs May 30 on MTV, with Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette joining the main casy. The cryptic tagline for this season is "Trust Nothing," and the teaser can be viewed here.
