'Scream Queens' season 2 release date, spoilers news: Chanels in mental asylum; Emma Roberts shares plot details
The Chanels are back in the upcoming second season of "Scream Queens," and the first official trailer featuring the ladies in a hospital setting has been released.
Complete with bedazzled headbands and feathered stilettos, the short promo clip shows the three Chanels donning their stylish hospital gowns. Wearing different shades of pink, Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts) struts her stuff across a hospital hallway along with her former KKT sisters Chanel #3 (Billie Lourd) and Chanel #5 (Abigail Breslin).

Season 1 left off with the Chanels being convicted of a crime Gigi, Boone, and Hester did. Because of that, they were sent to a mental asylum where they will serve time. According to lead star Emma Roberts, the new storyline will see the ladies in a much different light. "This year is definitely not as glamorous -- but in a good way -- and it's funny to see everyone kind of hold onto their bits of glamour," she told Entertainment Tonight.
"You find the Chanels kind of down on their luck when you first see them," Roberts continued. "And, of all people, Dean Munsch, comes to rescue them, but we're all very suspicious of why. Very suspicious."
Dean Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) happens to be the owner of the asylum, which means that her encounter with the ladies is far from over. Previewing the second season, Roberts mentioned that the characters will be forced to adapt to their new environment while still trying to be themselves. "It's so funny to see everyone taken out of Kappa house and put into a hospital because everyone still has the same personality. The Chanels are trying to hold onto their own style and it's just sad," the actress laughed. "Trying to have their cute pink sorority looks in this sad hospital."
Tune in to "Scream Queens" season 2 which airs on Tuesday, Sept. 20 on Fox.
