'Scorpion' Season 3 news, updates, spoilers: New chapter starting off with more heartbreaks?
The second season of "Scorpion" has ended but it did break a lot of fans' hearts. The Episode 24 of the season featured some exciting sequences but there were also a handful of heartbreaking scenes among the lead players of the show.
The recent episode started off with the Scorpion team finding a way to save Dr. Toby Curtis from a delicate death trap designed by Mark Collins. Good thing that their wits combined together let the good doctor out of harm's way. Although, the real tearjerker scenes were concentrated at the end of the episode.
Firstly, Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) found the courage to propose to Happy (Jadyn Wong), but then he was painfully rejected. To make matters worse, it was revealed at the end of the episode that Paige was previously married to someone else. However, there was no clue given who his mystery husband might be.
Things were supposed to get better for Walter (Elyes Gabel) and Paige (Katharine McPhee), as the former finally admitted his true feelings and he could now say proudly that he loves her. However, Paige had already gone out for a weekend getaway with Tim Armstrong (Scott Porter) and Walter was a bit late for letting her go without letting Paige know what he truly feels.
Following the shocking finale, "Scorpion" showrunners Nick Wooton and Nick Santora revealed the things the viewers should expect in the upcoming Season 3 in an interview with TV Line. They stated that the events in the Season 2 finale would have really big implications in the lives of the characters. As for Toby and Happy, Santora said a few things about Happy being secretly married.
"We knew at the beginning of the season that we wanted him to propose. We were talking about that last summer and we knew we wanted to arc it out to the end of the season. But we didn't know that Happy was going to be married to somebody else until around January."
Wooton also weighed in about the relationship of Happy and Toby and the emotional backstories expected as Season 3 begins. "They're (Happy and Toby) going to be affected very much so. This is certainly going to reverberate through the entire team. It's our kicking-off point for the next season, for the emotional stories. How is this going to play out? Who is she married to? How did that happen? Where is that person? All of these things are going to be fodder for next season."
Santora also added that Happy and Toby will be having a hard time ahead of them in Season 3.
"I wouldn't expect (Toby and Happy) to be struck by lightning in any upcoming episodes, ending their relationship. Eventually, these characters and these relationships are all going to get where they need to be. It's just going to be hard."
