'Scandal' season 6 release date, spoilers news: Olivia still chooses Jake, Kerry Washington's pregnancy to be written into the story?
It will be a while before "Scandal" returns on ABC, but fans may be wondering what's next for Olivia "Liv" Pope (Kerry Washington) and the rest of the cast with the U.S. Presidential Elections closing in.

Actor Scott Foley recently caught up with Entertainment Weekly, and he shared some details on the dynamic between his character Jake Ballard and Liv for season 6. "I'm going to be very unpopular in saying this: I think Olivia has chosen Jake," he said. "There is no question in my mind that she's chosen Jake."
Liv really wanted to be with Jake, but it seems like fate does not want them to be together. Foley pointed out that Liv plotted to run away with Jake right on his wedding day, but her manipulative father Rowan (Joe Morton) got between them. "They concocted this plan, they were going to be together, he was going to leave [his fiancée] at the altar until Rowan threatened Olivia with Jake's life," the actor discussed. "She had to have that really heartbreaking speech to him where she said, 'I don't love you, I never loved you, I love Fitz.' It was very apparent to me that she wanted to be with Jake and she couldn't."
Following lead star Washington's announcement about her second pregnancy, TV Line reported that the episode order for season 6 has been reduced from 22 to 16. During Washington's first pregnancy, the series also had a shortened episode order to adjust to her condition.
Rumor has it that the actress' pregnancy might be written in the storyline. With all the business she is handling and working around the dangerous world of politics, it's difficult to picture Liv managing to find time for a child. In an interview, Washington confirmed that Liv's pregnancy won't be a part of the plot and they will just have to hide her baby bump when filming resumes. "As far as I know, we're going to be hiding things," she told E! News. "But stay tuned!"
"Scandal" season 6 premiere date is scheduled for midseason 2017.
