Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) | ABC

The fifth season of "Scandal" concludes tonight, and viewers are in for a wild ride as huge secrets are expected to be revealed.

According to the official synopsis for episode 21 titled "That's My Girl," tensions run high as each presidential candidate prepare to voice out who they want to have as their running mate.  Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) will see herself stuck in a terrible situation while Cyrus (Jeff Perry) will discover a "damaging information" which can make a huge impact in the whole presidential race.

"We're still hardcore into election stuff. Everything is so magnified by what's going on right now in the political landscape. We're still way in the political game," star Artemis Pebdani teased of the finale via TV Guide, further stating that she still does not know who will win the nomination in each party. Even if Olivia and Fitz already shook hands to have a peaceful and clean elections, "you'll see other kinds of chess moves," Pebdani hinted.

Since the hit TV series will come to a close, fans are already wondering about what comes next for their favorite show. The network is yet to announce a premiere date for season 6 but according to reports, the upcoming season's episode order will be trimmed down from 22 to 16. The reason behind the show having fewer episodes is Kerry Washington's pregnancy, as she is currently carrying her second child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha. ABC also did the same move during Washington's first pregnancy way back 2014 where the episode order was cut down from 22 to 18. As of now, further details regarding the next season are still being kept under wraps. ABC has not yet confirmed if the show will be trimmed next season, but if they decide to push through with a full season order, the best possible option they have is to delay the premiere so that they can adjust to Washington's condition.

Watch the rest of the story unfold in tonight's final episode of "Scandal" which airs at 9 p.m. on ABC.
