Samsung Gear S3 release date, news, rumors: Unveiling expected at IFA 2016 this September

It has been quite a while since Samsung released the Gear S2 smartwatch. The wearable technology has the appearance of a high-tech wristwatch, but it can do a lot of things other than telling the users what the current time is. It can perform other duties that a smartphone can do. This year, the rumors are rife that South Korean tech giant will be updating the design and the operating system of the Samsung Gear with the arrival of Gear S3.

If the recent reports are anything to go by, the unveiling of the Samsung Gear S3 will happen less than two months from now. It is expected that Samsung will be introducing the Gear S3 to the public at the IFA 2016 on Sept. 1. The huge showcasing event will be held in Berlin, and by the time the latest Gear smartwatch is unveiled, it will boast an impressive design and a more efficient operating system.

As reported by Digital Trends, the Gear S3 is going to be the most updated and the most premium smartwatch coming from the company in recent years. It is going to have an improved casing with metallic chassis taking the form of a wristband. Interestingly, the latest Gear version is expected to have its own built-in GPS feature for improved tracking capabilities.

Moreover, the upcoming Gear smartwatch is going to be named as Solaris, according to the online publication. It is a Spanish word that that translates to "sun," suggesting that the Gear S3 may have a circular appearance resembling the sun. It is also expected to have the same rotating bezel like the Gear S2.

Meanwhile, The Verge reported that the Gear S3 will be powered by Samsung's Tizen operating system, making way for greater battery efficiency compared to other Android-powered smartphones in the recent years.

According to the latest reports, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 will also be unveiled this September, which can be a real possibility since Samsung seems to set the schedule of the new Galaxy Tab model's release every September. When that happens, both the Gear S3 and Tab S3 will be released at the same time, with both possibly sporting the latest Android N OS.
