Earlier this year, it was reported that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 would make an appearance in the third quarter of 2016. However, the month of September had passed and the public did not have the new Galaxy S-series tablet in their hands. Following the current mishap experienced by Samsung with the Galaxy Note 7, the South Korean tech giant may not be ready to release any follow-up devices in the coming months, leading to the end of 2016. If anything, the next batch of devices might be available next year, with the Galaxy Tab S3 rumored to arrive in the first quarter of 2017.

According to Sam Mobile, it is likely that the Galaxy Tab S3 will not be unveiled in the remaining weeks or months of 2016. Instead, Samsung is rumored to eye a Q1 2017 release date for the next Galaxy tablet. For this year, the last huge press event where Samsung could showcase the Galaxy Tab S3 was the IFA 2016. However, the company was mostly focused on the promotion and releasing of the Galaxy Note 7.

Furthermore, it is expected that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 will come in two variants upon its release. The first variant tagged as the SM-T280 will be the Wi-Fi exclusive model, while the higher end SM-T285 will be offering both Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity.

Digital Trends speculates that the Galaxy Tab S3 will be boasting a few great improvements from the Galaxy Tab S2 released last year, particularly the presence of a premium metal build. Many users that the Galaxy Tab S2 lacks the same metal build sported by the other Samsung tablets and Samsung is expected to fix that with their next Galaxy Tab model.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3's rumored core specs are impressive nonetheless, especially when compared to its predecessor. International Business Times reported that the tablet will boast an Exynos 7420 processor, 4GB RAM and an extended battery life surpassing that of the Galaxy Tab S2.

The unveiling of the Galaxy Tab S3 may happen sometime in February or March 2017, and it is expected to be released alongside the new Galaxy S8 smartphone. The joint release is likely as to remedy the loss incurred by Samsung from the worldwide recall of Galaxy Note 7 units.
