Samsung Galaxy S8 release date & specs news: Flagship to launch April 2017?
With the Samsung Galaxy S8 confirmed to arrive in the first half of 2017, leaks and rumors on what to expect from the technology giant's upcoming flagship make rounds on the internet.
According to Express, reports from South Korea claim that Samsung could reveal the Galaxy S8 at an event in New York in April 2017. Such was reportedly announced at a Samsung global strategy meeting that was held recently.

If this proves true, then Samsung would be breaking its tradition of revealing flagships at the Mobile World Congress, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain in February 2017. It may be noted, though, that the vendor unveiled the Galaxy S4 at a New York event in 2013.
After the Galaxy Note 7 recall fiasco, many are anticipating that the Galaxy S8 will be jam-packed with impressive features, as Samsung tries to mend its scarred reputation. If it's any indication of what's to come, Samsung has reportedly applied to trademark the term "Beast Mode," a technology that will improve the phone in terms of speed and performance, Trusted Reviews reports.
Rumors on what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy S8 remain limited and vague. There are speculations that it will sport a 4k display and an Edge-style screen. Under the hood, it will reportedly run on a Snapdragon 830 chip. Other potential features include an optical fingerprint scanner and Bluetooth 5.0.
There are also talks that the Galaxy S8 could introduce the USB-C port, which is prominently used with Apple's 12-inch MacBook, on Samsung phones. It may be recalled that the S7 was rumored to feature such, but it did not happen.
As for the random access memory (RAM), reports say that rumors on the Chinese social media Weibo claim that the S8 will have 6 MB of it.
Rumors also have it that the Galaxy S8 will be equipped with a powerful AI voice assistant called Viv, in a bid to compete with Google Assistant, Apple's Siri, and Amazon's Alexa.
