Samsung Galaxy Note 8 release date, news, specs rumors: Samsung to discontinue the Galaxy Note series? Company to focus on Galaxy S8 in 2017

Samsung had a pretty busy year with the unveiling of the new Galaxy S7 smartphone model and the Galaxy Note 7. However, the latter device has placed the South Korean tech company in a bad situation due to numerous reports of overheating and sudden explosion. With this, Samsung has ordered the complete recall of all Galaxy Note 7 units worldwide, and this is expected to be a huge blow in the company's sales for this year. Samsung's hope now lies with their next lineup of device for 2017, and this includes the next iteration of the Galaxy Note series, which is hopefully a more sophisticated device than the Galaxy Note 7 without all the technical issues reported by the users this year.

However, as the tech enthusiasts now focusing on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the latest rumors suggest that Samsung may ultimately consider discontinuing the Note series altogether. Samsung has all the opportunity to do whatever it is that should be done on the next Galaxy Note 8 in order to prevent the Galaxy Note 7 mishap, but the company may not take the risk of repeating the same mistake and focus on another device instead. If Samsung will no longer make the Galaxy Note 8, it is expected that they will shift gear to work on the Galaxy S8 smartphone.

For the past several years, the public has seen Samsung unveiling at least two flagship iterations within a year. One would expect that Samsung would release the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note 8 in 2017, as the company released the Galaxy S7 smartphone in the early part of this year while the Galaxy Note 7 was released in September. This time around, Samsung may only unveil one iteration for next year, and that is the new Galaxy S8 smartphone.

Some tech enthusiasts remain positive that Samsung would make the Galaxy Note 8 and release it one day. After all, the previous Galaxy Note iterations have been very impressive, thinking aside the Galaxy Note 7's issues. If ever Samsung continues the Galaxy Note series, the company may get some ideas from the Galaxy Note 7, but the Galaxy Note 8 will be a different model. Forbes reported that the Galaxy Note 8 will feature a built-in iris scanner for better security measures. It is also going to boast enhanced camera features with a dual camera setup.
