The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was supposed to be among the South Korean tech giant's top selling gadgets in the market this year. However, just a few weeks after its release last September, several reports of overheating and battery explosion have surfaced. Ultimately, Samsung was forced to order the total recall of all Galaxy Note 7 units worldwide, causing a huge blow in the company's stocks this 2016. While Samsung has not yet confirmed the future of the Galaxy Note series following the Note 7 issue, the rumors are rife that the Galaxy Note 8 will still be released next year.

The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to help Samsung bounce back from the problems that the Galaxy Note 7 has caused them this year. The new design and specs feature of the Galaxy Note 8 are not yet confirmed, although it is expected to be quite similar to those of the Note 7. However, Samsung will be extra careful in checking that the battery issue of the Galaxy Note 7 will not happen again in the next iteration of the device. Nevertheless, Galaxy Note followers can expect new features in the 2018 version, iTech Post reported.

One of the possible highlights of the Galaxy Note 8 is the improved S Pen. According to International Business Times, the upcoming Samsung phablet will receive a special stylus pen. It is rumored that the new S Pen for the Galaxy Note 8 will have speakers of its own. As per Yahoo , the Galaxy Note 8 will also boast major improvements on its camera features. Aside from the increased megapixel count, the device's camera is expected to get improved touchscreen gestures, giving more ways to capture images.

Regarding the possible release date of the Galaxy Note 8, there are rumors that Samsung may release the new phablet a bit earlier than their usual yearly schedule. To note, Samsung usually unveils the new Galaxy S-series smartphones sometime in February or March, while the new Galaxy Note phablets are released around August or September. This time around, the Galaxy Note 8 will be released in the early months of 2017.

Supporting the early 2017 release time frame for the Galaxy Note 8 is Moor Insights and Strategy president and principal analyst Patrick Moorhead, who is now predicting that the device will make an appearance at either the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) or Mobile World Congress next year.

"I think come January or March, January at CES or March at Mobile World Congress... They'll come out with a Note 8," Moorhead revealed as reported in CIO. "It will look different, it may be a different color, they might put a different industrial type of coating on it. But it will be their high-end phone that not only goes after high-end consumers but enterprise as well," he added.
