It has been rumored for quite some time that the next Galaxy Note will have a sophisticated security feature, specifically the iris scanner. However, a well-known tech analyst and prime source leaker, Evan Blass has recently spilled via Twitter that the Galaxy Note 7 will be having a special iris scan feature. Also, Blass also confirmed the interesting rumor that the successor of last year's Galaxy Note 5 will be named as Galaxy Note 7 instead of 6 for a strange but interesting reason.

According to a report from Yahoo News, the latest patent was leaked online that pertains to the yet-to-be-released Samsung Galaxy Note 7. As shown by the patent, the latest phablet will be having a unique iris scan feature that is composed of three elements. To note, Samsung has already been working on the iris scan feature for quite some time now. The company first tried developing the feature back in 2014.

The different elements of the iris scanner are an image processing system, a lighting device and three different lenses. The iris scanner is reported to use infrared (IR) light technology that will flash on the user's eye to unlock his or her device.

Aside from the iris scanner, Blass also claimed that the Galaxy Note 7 will be having an IP68 water resistance capability, something that was already sported by Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

Regarding the new model's name, it was rumored that Samsung will skip the "Galaxy Note 6" label for its upcoming phablet model. Instead, the South Korean electronics company will be introducing their new offering as Galaxy Note 7. This is due to a marketing strategy to keep the number sequence of Samsung's newest flagship gadgets. This year is also expected to see the arrival of Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, and if Samsung released their latest phablet model as Galaxy Note 6, it might cause confusion among the buyers.
