Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date, specs news: New Samsung phablet to be launched on Aug. 2?

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 | Samsung

So far, there are still no official details from Samsung regarding the next iteration of their Galaxy Note flagship. However, the South Korean tech giant has finally revealed their plans to talk about the Galaxy Note 7 very soon. In fact, according to the latest reports, Samsung will officially unbox the new Galaxy Note on Aug. 2. The Galaxy Note 7 is the successor of last year's Galaxy Note 5.

According to The Verge, Samsung will be having a special event on August 2 in New York City, where it is expected that the South Korea-based electronic company will finally introduce the new Galaxy Note to the public. The rumors have begun spreading on the internet regarding the anticipated next look of Samsung's popular phablet since late last year, and it was only just now that the company will be ready to discuss the official details of the new Galaxy Note.

To note, Samsung released the previous Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 5 in Sept. 26, 2014, and Aug. 21, 2015, respectively. Thus, the anticipated big reveal of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on August 2 is almost a month earlier compared to the usual schedule of the company on the Galaxy Note release.

Regarding the next iteration of Galaxy Note being tagged as Galaxy Note 7 instead of 6, it was already reported earlier that Samsung will skip the "Galaxy Note 6" title as a "wise" marketing move. Instead of Galaxy Note 6, the next Samsung phablet will be known as Galaxy Note 7 to maintain the number sequence of Samsung's upcoming flagship devices this 2016, which are all at 7. This year is also expected to see the arrival of Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. If Samsung released their latest phablet model as Galaxy Note 6, it might cause some kind of confusion among the buyers.

The initial reports about the Galaxy Note 7's specs are quite impressive, as Game N Guide reported the latest Antutu listing of the upcoming Samsung device. Antutu listed the new Galaxy Note to be powered by quad-core Snapdragon 820. There are also two variants of the Galaxy Note 7 expected this year, with the high-end variant listed by Antutu to have 64GB internal storage, a 13-megapixel main camera with LED flash, plus a 5-MP selfie front cam, Time News reported.
