After months of speculations regarding the next iteration of the Samsung Galaxy Note, the South Korean tech giant has finally revealed the date when the Galaxy Note 7 will be introduced to the public. The official unboxing of the Galaxy Note 7 will happen on Aug. 2, but less than a week before the anticipated unveiling of the latest device, a video posted on YouTube revealed the eye movement detection feature of the phablet.
The video was just recently posted where the supposed Galaxy Note 7 is seen unlocking itself by detecting the eye movement of its user. This special security feature is made possible by the device's built-in iris scanner. Specifically, the phablet will be unlocked in an instant with a particular direction of the user's eye, and as reported by Yibada, those who will view the said video may need to watch it repeatedly to confirm that the unlocking of the phone via eye movement detection actually happens.
Moreover, the screen of the Galaxy Note device on the video is shown to be split into two. The other half of the screen is for the iris scanner unlocking, while the other is for the usual pin or password typing. Still, Samsung is reported to list many disclaimers with respect to the Galaxy Note 7's latest feature because of the possibility of having inconsistencies. Android Authority reported that the iris scanner may not work when the user is wearing some kind of an eyewear such as sunglasses, eyeglasses or contact lenses.
According to The Verge, Samsung will be having a special event on August 2 in New York City, where it is expected that the South Korea-based electronic company will finally introduce the new Galaxy Note to the public. The rumors have begun spreading on the internet regarding the anticipated next look of Samsung's popular phablet since late last year, and it was only just now that the company will be ready to discuss the official details of the new Galaxy Note.
