A leaked photo of what may or may not be an invite to a Samsung Unpacking event seems to indicate that the Galaxy Note 7 launch is less than a couple of months away.

The leaked snap, which says "Galaxy Unpacked 2016" and "The next edge is just around the corner," was sent to SamMobile, which recently published the image.

According to the website, Samsung might debut the rumored Galaxy Note 7 and/or Galaxy Note 7 edge on Aug. 2 at the Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York City. Furthermore, the graphics on the alleged invite appears to indicate that the next Galaxy Note will skip the Note 6 name and jump straight to Note 7. The latest model in Samsung's Note line, the Galaxy Note 5, was unveiled in New York in 2015.

Naming the new Note the Galaxy Note 7 will bring Samsung's Notes in line with the company's flagship Galaxy smartphone lineup, which last saw the release of the S7.

Apart from the Note 7 moniker, SamMobile also theorizes, based on the photo it received, that the statement "The next edge is just around the corner" could be pointing at a possible Galaxy Note 7 edge. This could mean that two models of the new Note will be unveiled — one with a curved-edge display and one without.

The leaked photo also indicates that the presentation will begin at 11 a.m. EDT and that the event will be live streamed at youtube.com/samsungmobile.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Samsung might be looking to add an iris scanner to its upcoming Galaxy Note 7.

According to Price Raja, a screenshot of a software for Samsung's Galaxy Beta program reveals a settings option that, in English, says "Use iris." In addition, the website also reports that import and export data reveal 200 iris scanners being brought into New Delhi from South Korea. These iris scanners might just be for the next Galaxy Note.

Samsung has yet to announce the official launch date of its next Note device.
