The next generation of Samsung's Galaxy J3 smartphone has just received a TENAA certification, which could mean that the handset can be release anytime soon.

According to reports, Samsung has just gotten the approval of the Chinese regulatory board. The agency is China's equivalent to the United States' FCC. The regulatory commission is one of the last stops before a handset becomes available in the market.

The current iteration of the series has just been released in the US. It just recently hit Verizon and AT&T this month; however, reports of a new iteration have already circulated all over the Internet. Following the availability of the smartphone last April through Amazon, many fans are now expecting the 2017 version of the handset.

The alleged global version of the device is listed by TENAA as SM-J3110, while the Chinese variant of the new model is listed as SM-J3119.

Meanwhile, the entry level smartphone's specifications were also revealed by the certification body. According to reports, the upcoming device will carry a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen, with a 720p HD resolution for the model that will be released globally. The Chinese variant is said to come with 1080p full HD resolution.

Both versions seem to be identical in terms of specs and designs with the exception of the display feature. Apparently, TENAA registers the device with a quad-core processor, which is clocked at 1.2 GHz. The smartphone will also run on 2 GB of RAM. It will also get 16 GB of internal storage capacity, which will be expandable using micro SD.

The reports also show the device with an 8-megapixel primary shooter, which has the capability to record video at 1080p resolution. It will also boast a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. Both the global and the Chinese variants of the Galaxy J3 2017 will use LTE connectivity and carry a 2,600 mAh battery.

As of the moment, Samsung has yet to confirm these reports. Release date and pricing details of the device are not yet available at this time.
