The 21st Annual SAG Awards ceremony is due to take place on Jan. 25, 2015 and preparations for it just kicked off with the announcement of nominations. Among the nominations, standouts included the film "Birdman" which scooped up four and the TV series "Modern Family" which landed the same number of nominations.

"Birdman" saw its lead actor Michael Keaton being nominated in the Best Actor category where he will face off against Steve Carell who played John du Pont in "Foxcatcher."

Also in the running for the award is Jake Gyllenhaal for his performance in "Nightcrawler," Benedict Cumberbatch who played the genius Alan Turing in "The Imitation Game" and Eddie Redmayne who played Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything."

As predicted, Jennifer Aniston was nominated in the Best Actress category for her role as Claire Bennett in the film "Cake." Other nominees in the category included Felicity Jones for "The Theory Of Everything," Julianne Moore for "Still Alice," Rosamund Pike for "Gone Girl" and Reese Witherspoon for "Wild."

Coming to the world of television, "Modern Family" was nominated in the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series category.
