'Rizzoli & Isles' season 7 spoilers, updates: Jane goes undercover in series' 100th episode; Is she putting herself in harm's way?

"Rizzoli & Isles" season 7 returns on Monday with its eighth episode that would see Jane going undercover in prison where she will meet an interesting character.

Last Monday's episode titled "Dead Weight" had Jane (Angie Harmon) reluctantly heading to Quantico to give a lecture. However, typical of Jane, she found something to investigate there, although admittedly, the case had an entertaining sideline.

Jane found herself the target of an obnoxious student who spit out misogynistic comments to Jane, bordering on sexual harassment. Unfortunately, the insufferable student was in no way involved with the death of his classmate, which was ruled out as suicide.

The main case was a mediocre bombing, which they initially thought was actually spontaneous combustion. What was unusual with it was that Maura (Sasha Alexander) caught the suspect, something that doesn't normally happen since her contributions are mainly medical in essence.

Meanwhile, episode 8 titled "2M7258-100" will find Jane going undercover in a county jail in the hope of drawing out a killer of a brutal murder. While in prison, she will meet the character that will be played by two-time Emmy Award-winning actress Sharon Gless from the '80's series "Cagney & Lacey."

"[Gless' character is] in for a lesser crime and she tries to befriend Jane, and she looks out for Jane," Harmon told TV Guide in an interview. "Jane kind of brushes her off at first because she's in there with a job to do ... But she does sort of change Jane's life."

Apparently, Jane will have an epiphany while in prison that would set the stage for the remaining episodes of "Rizzoli & Isles'" final season. The teaser for the said episode appears below, and in it, Jane's mother is shown worrying over her daughter's undercover assignment. Maura assures her that Jane could take care of herself, but Frankie (Jordan Bridges) tells his sister Jane that someone in jail would try to kill her.

"Rizzoli & Isles" season 7 episode 8 airs on Monday, July 25, at 9 p.m. EST on TNT.
