'Rizzoli & Isles' season 7 spoilers: Investigation to focus on a murder linked to the postal service, Maura continues to deal with the complications of her injury

The return of "Rizzoli & Isles" early this month is bittersweet, particularly because the show is now on its seventh and final season. So far into the season, viewers have seen some interesting revelations including Maura Isles' brain injury that could make her reconsider her future plans and the end of Alice Sands threatening the life of Jane Rizzoli, as noted by CarterMatt. The upcoming episode picks up on the above-mentioned events, and viewers will see a murder with a connection to the postal service.

Next week's episode 4 titled "Post Mortem" is nothing short of interesting, as Boston's crime-solving female duo are faced with yet another complex case. The official synopsis reads:

"When a mailman is killed, the team must work with a brash, eccentric Postal Inspector, who believes the mailman's murder is part of a larger conspiracy. Maura continues to struggle with the ramifications of her injury and Angela intervenes when she discovers Korsak has gotten Kiki (guest star Christina Chang) a terrible birthday present."

On another note, the show might be ending after quite a long run, but Maura's portrayer Sasha Alexander says she is ready to move forward. "I have really enjoyed playing Dr. Maura Isles," the actress told AJC. "I really can say in seven years, I never had a boring day playing her. It was never tedious for me to play her. She's a sunny personality and curious and interested and funny. I was constantly amused by the role. I will miss playing her. We've had seven seasons to explore so many things and creatively I'm ready to move on."

As for how the rest of the episodes will play out, Alexander did not want to give anything away but she shared her thoughts for the characters when all is said and done. "I hope that at the end, we'll know these people will remain tight no matter what direction they go in," she added.
